Following java regular expression example show you how to use replace a string with a regular expression .Here am removing the start part of xml whichis something like this :

    {
     
        String regExp = "[<][?]\\s*[xml].*[?][>]";
        strXML=strXML.replaceFirst(regExp , "");
        return  strXML;
